A few years back, Munchies was the place to go if you wanted a feed, any time, day or night... Unfortunately, being open 24/7 wasn't that profitable towards the end, and the previous owner decided to restrict opening hours quiet severly, essentially only opening when the US Navy was in town, and a few other special occasions.

These days, Munchies has new owners, and they seem to be trying to turn things around, Munchies is a popular hangout with some of the younger fast car crowd, and consequently, police presence can be fairly intense at times.

Thoroughly agree with you there Fil,
Munchies is a great place to go as long as you're not there too late in the evening, otherwise you do get alot of hassle with from the coppers.
Especially if you have a car that looks the part, they automatically think that you're a hoon and pick on you.
If you get there earlier on it's fantastic.
Just don't leave your car unlocked

Word is that the current owners of Captain Munchies have sold up and are moving on, they hand over to the new owners Tuesday night, so if you want to thank them for their efforts over the last couple of years, then drop in today or tomorrow for a feed.

Yet another update on the Munchies saga... They're now open 'till late' again, however the main carpark still gets closed very early... (around 8pm from memory) so be prepared for a mad dash to the exits, as you'll get no warning from the security guard who puts the bollards up...

Of course, you could park around the back, but we'd all prefer to park out from where we can see our cars while we chat and eat...

Yet another update, and the news doesn't get any better for fans of Munchies...

We drove past on Friday night about 9:30pm, and there were bollards blocking off the small carpark too... There were a couple of people driving over the curbs to get into the carpark so they could order food, but surely this would be a restraint of trade, preventing a legitimate business from making money...

I should mention that we were in a group of about 9 cars, and if the Munchies carpark had been open, we would have stopped in for a coffee and a bite to eat... Instead we went up to Cottesloe and stopped at Vans on Napoleon street...

Time for another update on Cap'n Munchies... They appear to be trying to drop the Cap'n part of the name, are open until 2am most nights, and have a website URL printed on the back of their menus..

The URL doesn't work at the moment, but I guess it could be still in progress, so here it is anyway:

www.munchiesfreo.com.au
